Series 7 | Herd books. — 1908-1963. — 50 cm of textual records. — This series consists of a multi-volume published work, The Canadian Aberdeen-Angus herd book / compiled and edited in the office of the Canadian National Live Stock Records. — Ottawa : Canadian Aberdeen-Angus Breeders’ Association, 1908-1963. Each volume contains pedigree records of Aberdeen Angus cattle in numerical order of registration, a directory of breeders and owners, and an index to pedigrees by animals’ names. Until 1938, volumes include photographs of champion animals. Until 1941, volumes include the constitution and by-laws of the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association. Beginning in 1922, volumes include prize winners at major Canadian exhibitions. Beginning in 1939, volumes include balance sheets for the Canadian Aberdeen Angus Association and financial statements for Canadian National Live Stock Records. Beginning in 1941, volumes include registered herd names and registered ear tattoo identification letters. — The series was superseded by records maintained on microfiche and in digital formats. |
